This book works! I am a 40+ year old woman and I did it over and over again. It is important to read through the begining to understand what each step means. After that, it is easy. I'm not quite able to memorize all of the steps yet but I can do it very simply with the book on hand. I would say buy this book and then memorize it and freak out your friends. When I have it memorized I am going to put my cube on my desk just to watch everyone's faces as I solve it right in front of them!!!!!!!

I chose this book to teach my grandson on how to solve the rubiks cube and he found it very useful and he is learning how to solve it and he finds it easy to follow and understand. he is only 12 but its easy for him to follow. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to teach their children or grand kids how to learn about the cube. by the way you have underscored the word rubiks twice now you better learn how to spell the word yourself. it is annoying me.

I would've never thought that the saga of "Engineering" could be so entertaining. About the Author
Ben Lacy Rose, a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was educated at Davidson College in North Carolina and Union Theological Seminary in Virginia. His pastorates include a three-church field in Duplin County, North Carolina, Central Presbyterian Church, Bristol, Virginia, and Frist Presbyterian Church, Wilmington, North Carolina. Rose was professor of preaching and church administration at Union Theological Seminary for seventeen years, during which time he was elected moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States. Now retired, he is serving as minister of Hebron Presbyterian Church, Manakin Sabot, Virginia.

A TULIP BY ANOTHER NAME

Most people would associate a tulip as being a bulb that grows erect with showy cup-shaped flowers. John Calvin's tulip is certainly not the flower just described but an acronym describing five disputed points of his doctrine. TOTAL depravity, UNCONDITIONAL election, LIMITED atonement, IRRESISTIBLE grace and PERSEVERANCE of the saints are the cornerstone foundations upon which those of the Reformed protestant faith stand. It is also the least desirable topic to preach let alone understand in its minute details. Who wants to bore their congregation into sleep by preaching Calvinist doctrine?
Ben Rose remedies the situation by present us with a book on how to preach and study Calvin's five points. He takes each point and gives a definition of the doctrine, supplies the biblical support for it , explains the doctrine's function in our lives and at the end leaves us questions for reflection, discussion and appreciation for the particular point studied.
As one who is not of the Reformed tradition, I thoroughly enjoyed the book's simplicity, clarity on each point and its brevity. I appreciated Rose's daring attempt to take a complex doctrine and make it accessible and understandable to the congregants. He also emphasizes the need for doctrinal preaching and how it can be done without confusing the laity. This book is great for doctrinal studies, a resource for preaching and a refresher on Calvin's disputed points.

As a former Methodist, then a Catholic for 27 years and finally becoming a Reformed Christian, this was absolutely the best book I have found to be able to understand the Reformed/Presbyterian theology on the five disputed points of Calvinism. It is written in Laymen's terms and in such a way that after reading you understand well enough to teach the doctrine yourself. Well done Ben Rose!

One hell of a first novel: not for the weak at heart!

This book grabbed me by the throat by about chapter three or four and wouldn't let go. There are books that matter to me because the language captures me and I want to read aloud the phrases I love most...there are books that matter to me because I can't put them down...and there are books that matter to me because they make me feel lost in the world they create. This one was all three. I was so deeply entrenched that when I got to an upsetting part (it's horror meets dark fantasy) I was literally furious with the author for maybe a day until I was removed enough to remember that it is FICTION and that nothing bad had actually happened. To me, that's quite an artistic accomplishment! This is the first in a trilogy and I can't wait for the next two.

Soolie Beetch and the Dying Light is enthralling, engaging and impossible to put down. I had to read it twice, once just because I could not sleep without finding out what happens next, and the second to really let myself sink into the amazing story. This book is fantasy-fiction at it's very finest. The world is exquisitely crafted, and yet the characters are heartbreakingly real in every sense. It is everything I want in a book; intense, sweet, sad, funny, horrifying, and an escape. Not for the faint of heart (things gets *dark*) this book is a superb first novel, and I honestly don't know if I can wait for the series to continue.

Worth it, want more!

As a avid reader, I go through a lot of books over the course of the year. This book is a stand out. Imaginative with great descriptions the writer gave me characters I felt I could relate to and care about, a rarity. Soolie is strong and trying to protect those she loves while trying to survive. The world the author has created is described in such a way I had no trouble seeing it and being there, with none of the jarring inconsistencies some other popular authors through out because they didn't take the time to research their devices to find out if it would really work like that or not. Recommended.
